Cardosa Circuit


Duration: 4 hour(s) - Location: Lençois Maranhenses - Barreirinhas - Cardosa

This tour starts with a drive in a specially-equipped 4x4 car along the paved road that leads to Cardosa. The river in Cardosa has clean and clear waters. Following a trail up the river, guests will finally have the chance to jump in and float back down the river, wearing float-wear and life jackets. The river flows peacefully back to the car.

After breakfast guests will be driven in a 4x4 car along a paved road to Cardosa. The drive takes about 1 hour. Then they will hike along a path to a point on the Formiga River. There, they will find life jackets and float leisurely back down the river. The float takes about 40 mintes. Back at the car, there will be time to have some snacks and refresh before returning to Barreirinhas.

 

 



Participant guidelines

It is necessary to check-out before the tour because we will return after the time established by the hotel. (Generally the hotel offers a bathroom to change clothes.)

There are no shops in the park so it is suggested that you carry a backpack with sunscreen, towels, water and snacks like fruits, juices, cereals and cookies. The car has an ice box.

Important: you are not allowed to carry alcoholic drinks to the park and you must take care of your own garbage.

Clothes: pants made of synthetic material; dry tee-shirts with good ventilation; sunscreen with at least FSP 30; sunglasses and camera.

Weather: Maranhão has only one season: summer. Summer is divided into: intense summer sun from July to December, and summer with rain from January to June. The months with the heaviest rainfall are March and April. It is worth remembering that the winds are very strong in the months August to December.
